Outbraker Booster Brake Splitter: Learn how to install it like a pro

As you already know, the Outbraker Booster Brake Splitter is a revolutionary device designed specifically for the paracyclist. In this article, we will teach you how to assemble your brake splitter step by step so that you can fully enjoy its benefits.

Outbraker Booster Brake Splitter: Exceptional Technology

Concerned about the needs of all riders, our device was designed with the latest hydraulic brake technology for bicycles, offering an exceptional braking experience and unparalleled safety. OutBraker allows simultaneous control of both brakes with a single lever and incorporates the innovative booster function. Thanks to this key function, it is possible to maintain the original feel of the lever through an adjustable dial, minimizing the frequency of brake bleeding and always achieving quality braking.

Another advantage of our system is its compatibility with all hydraulic brakes on the market, making it an ideal option for both road and mountain bikes.

For these reasons, it is chosen by elite Paralympic athletes such as Álex Palomero, Kini Carrasco, Jairo Ruiz, Marta Francés, Lauren Steadman, Claire Cashmore among others.

Assemble your Outbraker Booster Brake Splitter

But, is it difficult to install this system? The answer is no.

OutBraker is easy to install, however, we always recommend that the installation be done by an experienced professional. Here’s some key tips so you can learn how to install it like a pro.

  • Bleeding tools & equipment
    • Always use professional bleeding tools and the bleeding fluid (mineral or DOT)  corresponding to the brake brand, also not stored in an old container. If it has been in a container for more than 6 months, it may have lost properties and affect the performance.
  • Use the correct head olives and Pin needles
    • When you install OutBraker remember to replace the olives head and pin needles with new ones, this way we ensure that there is no risk of leakage. If you have to install the OutBraker with our Hose Adapter Kit, use the olives and pin needles  included in the pack. Use the appropriate Pin to the hose (Silver BH-90) (Gold BH-59).
  • Use new pads & avoid pad/rotor contamination
    • For a fresh installation, if possible, use new pads. This will guarantee the best braking. Also avoid the common mistake of Brake Pad/Rotor Contamination, advised on our bleeding guide.
  • Don’t overtight Bleed Adaptors and Fittings
    • If you apply too much pressure, you can damage bleed ports, so always apply the correct pressure, the correct pressure is advised on our bleeding guide.
  • Brake Hose bend & Hose Adapter kit
    • When you have to install the OutBraker with our Hose Adapter Kit, remember to place the adaptor piece in the appropriate position and be careful that the hose is not severely bent.
  • 50/50 & 60/40 Braking and combination with OutBraker ABS
    • Our Outbraker Splits the braking 50/50, despite this, is not a hard-sudden braking. Our riders feel comfortable and safe with this braking.
Nevertheless, for a type 60 rear and 40 front configuration you can do the following configuration with pads compound and rotor sizes:
      • Organic pads (SOFT) + Rotor 140mm (LESS FRONT POWER). Its surface is soft and low-density, it provides modulated braking and low disc wear, but they are less powerful than metal ones.
      • Metallic/Ceramic Pads (HARD) + 160mm or Larger Rotor (MORE REAR POWER). It is a more powerful, more durable compound that better resists high temperatures.

And an extra in safety, you can combine your Outbraker Splitter with our OutBraker ABS and you will have an anti-lock function, which is useful in emergency braking at high speeds.

Don’t worry if you’re more visual!

Our friends at BICISPA have created an illustrative and detailed video to complement this guide, showing the assembly process step by step. If you want to see other installations, don’t hesitate to check out our videos!

Now, it’s time to test it! We always recommend conducting a low-speed braking test to ensure that the front wheel brakes correctly.

With the Outbraker Booster Brake Splitter, you will not only improve your braking experience but also enhance your safety and confidence on every ride. Get ready for a new dimension in cycling with this incredible innovation! Check it out now!
